THE FUTURE OF RAF COLTISHALL, HOW WILL IT AFFECT YOU?
At the Ashmanhaugh Annual Parish Meeting on 20th May 2008, District Councillor Nigel Dixon suggested the Parish might wish a special meeting to consider the possible impact on the local area if the Eco-town proposal and the 500 inmate Cat. C Prison goes ahead on the old RAF Coltishall site.
As a result Ashmanhaugh Parish Council held an Extraordinary Parish meeting on Thursday 17th June 2008.
Some of the issues suggested for consideration are:-
1 Is it acceptable for the current housing allocation for NNDC to be raised from 8,000 homes, as set out in the currect Local Development Framework, to 13,000 homes, withouth going through the normal democratic consultation and approval process?
2 The building work is to start in 2010. Are the short timescale for feasibilty and sustainablility appraisals, proper public consultation and planning approval sufficient?
3 Are the local roads; communications; utilities; health/social/ education services capable of supporting such a township, (which will be aound the size of North Walsham).
4 Do the people of North Norfolk want such a township impacting on the natural features of such a rural area.
