Fundenhall Church Update - February 2008
FUNDENHALL CHURCH
CHRISTMAS CAROL SERVICE
Preparations began in the barn a few days before with the final decorations being done on the Saturday and Sunday. Just over 100 people from the local area and afar arrived at the barn on a very crisp, chilly evening. The service was conducted by Rev. Clive Styles and Rev. Jenny Cooper. The sound of singing filled the barn with the Upper Tas Valley Benefice Choir also performing some songs from the ‘Inn Crowd’. Afterwards everybody enjoyed the mulled wine, mince pies, flapjacks and sausage rolls. On departing in temperatures of -1 degrees, frost on the cars a beautiful clear night appeared with the stars shining brightly.
Thank you to Robert Bothway for letting us have the use of your barn and driveway. Thank you to the choir and to all who attended on the evening. We hope you enjoyed yourselves. Also thank you to our family and friends for decorating and cooking!
CHURCH RESTORATION UPDATE
News everybody has been waiting to hear with the funds recieved from the English Heritage Grant we have accepted a quote from Atthowe builders. We are just waiting for permission from the church faculty for work to go ahead which we expect within the next fortnight. The work should then commence in June on the urgent repairs required.
Our church wardens Dianne Burridge and John Brooks are still busy form filling for further grants.
Shortly we will be getting quotes from electricians for the rewiring required in the church.
A new problem that has arisen is the stonework in the North doorway which has turned black. We have a conservationist arriving shortly to give advice.
