Fundenhall Fete - 30th August 2008
FUNDENHALL CHURCH
FETE- Saturday 30th August 2008.
We had a busy week of final preparations and setting up towards the fete. We had many fingers crossed for the weather on the day but Saturday dawned and brought with it beautiful blue skies and some warmth!
We had many activities on offer this year and they were all well supported by the large volume of people atttending.
A huge Thank you to Carrie Smith and helpers for our advertising boards that appeared everywhere and drew a large amount of comments.
The dog and pet show was a large success this year and we had a variety of different animals ranging from a 14week old parrot to guinea pigs, rabbits and a little girls proud collection of giant snails. Their was a large turnout of children proudly showing us all their animals and each child was presented with a rosette by Jenny Martin from Ashwellthorpe, kind sponser of the childrens events. Best in show went to a German short haired pointer called Rosie, owned by Jim Bird from Alburgh in Suffolk. Reserve best in show went to Maxine Waller from Lowestoft with a Papillon called Iris.
Very special Thanks to our judge Jackie Carway who donated her time to judge all the entries.
The scurry competition returned this year kindly run by Norfolk and Suffolk H.P.R FT Club, with a very popular following. Many entered - some with great success and others doing slight diversions off the course!!
A new event this year was the chicken racing brought to us by Carrie Smith and Mark Holmes. This proved very popular creating many laughs.
Our music this year was very kindly provided by the 'Mulberry Hawk Band'. Their music created a very relaxing environment.
We would like to Thank all of you who came on the day and participated in the events. We hope you all enjoyed yourselves and relaxed with family and friends.
Thank you to all the support/sponsership and donating of prizes and equipment that we received from all the companies involved.
Without Robert Bothway who donated his fields and front lawn none of this would have been possible. Thank you Robert.
From all on the committee we would like to Thank all our family and friends for everything that they do for us and to all those who helped us for or on the day. We raised £4500 towards the cost of repairs of St. Nicholas church, Fundenhall and with our grateful Thanks to you all for your continued support and participation.
Norfolk Churches Trust Cycle Ride – September 13th 2008
We had one rider for the church this year. Congratulations and well done to Gary Betts. He visited 19 churches and cycled about 25 miles(if you speak to him its nearly 50!). Gary raised just over £200.
