Tacolneston Television Mast
Most of you will be aware that TV has to switch to digital in the whole of the country by 2012. So the Tacolneston transmitter site has to be changed to digital over the next two years and at the same time they would like to upgrade the site because the present mast is 50 years old.
It is proposed to:-
1. Erect a replacement mast to a height of 206.1 metres above ground level. (the present mast is 155.5 metres tall)
2. The installation of antennas and ancillary electronic communication apparatus on the replacement tower.
3. The erection of a new digital terrestrial television transmitter hall measuring 24.5 metres by 11.5 metres. This would have a similar height to existing buildings located on the site.
The planning application will be put in in the autumn. Applicatio number 2007/1643 is a screening process to find out concerns of local people so these can be addesssed before or in the formal application.
