Welcome to Aylsham Town Council. The Council serves a population of 6000 people in the Norfolk town of Aylsham. There are 13 Councillors, who represent the whole town (no wards). Services provided by the Town Council include: allotments (2 sites), street lighting, public toilets, cemetery, maintenance of the closed churchyard, recreation ground, amenity areas,christmas lights, use of the town hall as a community hall, Monday and Friday markets, and Farmers Markets on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays each month. Additionally, the Council undertakes other functions via Agency Agreements with District and County Councils, including monitoring car parks, street cleaning and litter collection, and Highway verge cutting.

Aylsham was accepted into the international Cittaslow movement in 2004, the 2nd town in the UK to be accredited. It signifies Aylsham as a "town where the living is good" - nothing to do with "slow" other than in quality terms, a town that cares about quality of life for its residents and visitors. The Cittaslow Community Events Committee arranges a variety of events throughout the year, including Carnival, Food Festival and a Christmas event, which finishes with Father Christmas switching on the town's christmas lights.
