Pink Rose Dinner

Bartlow Village Association held a fund raising dinner at The Three Hills Public House on Friday 26th February in order to raise funds for the Breast Unit at Addenbrooke’s.  The profits from ticket sales and income from a raffle, together with donations from people unable to attend the event, totalled £405.  The Three Hills provided an excellent meal and the evening was enjoyed by one and all.  As an extra fund raiser, Cathy has kindly offered to sell cards she has made with some of her wonderful photographs of roses.  Please contact her if you wish to purchase any and all proceeds again will go to the Breast Unit.

Sloe Gin Competition

Thank you to Ernie for organising another successful Bartlow event.  There were 23 entries in all and the winners are 1st Christine Ogilvy; 2nd Graham Howat; 3rd Pat Fairey.  £87 was raised which will be matched pound for pound and will be sent out to primary school children in Burma.  Thank you also Three Hills for hosting us yet again.  The event was well attended with some enthusiastic tasters. Thanks also to Mollie and Hannah for their discerning palates.   How many entries can we get next year?

Photographs from the past

These were kindly sent to us by Norman Bartlett who now lives in Canada.  What a wonderful glimpse into the past.  Please click on Historic Photographs to the left.

Bartlow history - new find

When the vestry was cleared out recently, a document written in 1932 by the Revd C G Brocklebank, entitled The History of the Bartlow Hills, was discovered.  This was a presentation given by the Revd Brocklebank to the Cambs and Hunts Archaeological Society in May 1932 and details the various excavations made in the three hills and describes other Roman finds in the vicinity.   The document has been reproduced and is now included in Bartlow History.

Bartlow Archaeology
