Our Community
The parish is a mix of young people, born-and-bred locals, commuters and retired people. It is situated in an agricultural working environment and allows for this mix of people to provide their experiences and skills to enhance our lifestyle.
The community voiced their opinions during the completion of the Parish Plan. New friends and relationships have been formed on professional and social levels and activities have already taken place which has provided additional facilities for all residents and has further enhanced Community spirit. The creation of the Village Plan has already tapped into local talents and enthusiasm and has demonstrated the importance and need of local people to become involved in local democratic processes.
Various community initiatives are now under way. A Youth Council has been formed, the communal play area is being enhanced and there are road safety schemes such as safe lanes being formulated. Socially, local people have formed a football team, which enjoys great community support from all ages. This has led to close links with local primary schools and after school events. A history group has been established, which is presently writing a book about the Parish and is identifying memories from its older inhabitants – encompassing the past for the improvement of the future. The completion of these projects will provide for a safer, sociable and friendly community and in doing so will bring together a vast range of villagers utilising their experience, skills and enthusiasm.
Bunwell is not just a community, more a way of life.
