Cranworth Jubilee Hall
CRANWORTH JUBILEE HALL
Built in 1935 the jubilee year of King George V and Queen Mary, the hall serves the civil parish of Cranworth comprising the villages of Cranworth, Letton, Southburgh and Woodrising. In recent years a modern kitchen has been added giving comprehensive cooking facilities and disabled facilities have been provided with new flooring in the toilet block. New curtains are now all fire-resistant, the roof and exterior walls have been weather-proofed and the interior completely redecorated. The custodian trustees of the hall are the Parish Council but it is run and funded by managing trustees who make up the Jubilee Hall Management Committee which currently consists of the officers and members listed below until the AGM on May 11th 2009: Rachel Jackson (Chair) – representing PCC 01362 821032 Robena Brown (Treasurer, & Secretary) 01362 820068 Kenneth Carter – representing Sunset Club 01362 820902 Heather Brown – representing Carpet Bowls 01362 820363 Charles Brown - representing Parish Council 01362 820068 Carole Stoakley 01362 820690 Hire costs only £3.00/hour for community and private functions, and £5.00/hour for commercial use (hire for profit). Electricity is charged in addition at 20 pence per unit used. Hire enquiries should be directed to Robena Brown. All of the trustees named above are key-holders. The hall is presently used for a wide range of activities which apart from the usual functions after rites of passage include band practise, exercise and dance classes, carpet bowls, community lunches, children's sporting activities, general auctions and retirement club. Many meetings are held in the hall including those of Cranworth Parish Council. The Youth Club meets in the hall from autumn to spring until lighter evenings allow play sessions at the excellently appointed Playing Field in Cranworth village. The Management Committee actively raise funds to maintain and develop the facilities provided and the two main fund-raising events of previous years are the summer dance and hog roast, and the autumn 'Night at the Races'. Tickets are now on sale for the summer dance and this event which is to be held on Sunday 28th June from 3.30pm will only cost £7.50 per adult and £5.00 per child which includes the cost of a meal. A vegetarian alternative is available if ordered in advance. Tickets are available now from Carole Stoakley and Robena Brown.
