Ever wondered what your Parish Council is here to do? The Parish Council is made up of 9 elected unpaid members who all live in Mattishall and represent the village on various matters. We are effectively the third tier of local government, the other two being Norfolk County Council and Breckland District Council.
We meet at 7 pm on the first Monday of the month at the Methodist Church Rooms on Dereham Road. The public is very welcome to attend and we encourage people to speak during the open forum which is part of each formal meeting. We discuss varying issues which affect the community, and are responsible for:
• the upkeep of the Burgh Lane cemetery and All Saints Churchyard
• All Saints church clock
• the children’s play area (in the school grounds)
• providing general maintenance around the village
• the allotments
• bus shelters and seating
• some recycling bins, litter bins and dog fouling bins.
We also make comments on all planning applications although Breckland District Council makes the decision, taking our views into account. We regularly discuss issues such as local roads and the primary school travel plan. We also invite topical speakers to our meetings to hear about the Local Development Framework and Community Policing.
If you are interested in Mattishall why not come along to one of our meetings.
