Sat 9 Feb 2008 - the owners of Earth Wind and Fire are opening their workshop next to the railway crossing as part of the Anglia in Bloom project and are inviting children and adults to come and make boxes for owls and box terraces for sparrows. The owners will also share their knowledge about green energy technology. All welcome at 1100hrs.

Tue 19 Feb 2008 - talk on the History of The Vale (Swainsthorpe's workhouse built 1836) by Stephen Pope in the church at 7.30pm

Tue 9 Sep 2008 - the village announced as winners of the "Best Small Village" in the under 300 population category of Anglia in Bloom. We were also acknowledged by an award for the childrens playground on the village green
